The House Modesto, formally known as Calvary Temple Worship Center,
was organized on May 18, 1945. The House is a California Non-profit
corporation and is dedicated to spreading the Gospel through establishing,
developing and promoting all aspects of church ministry both in Modesto, Ft.
Worth, Texas and San Diego, Calif, and the surrounding communities. The
House opens its doors to all who want to come and worship.
The House operates Planet Kids Christian Preschool, which provides prekindergarten age children a basic, well-rounded education from a Christian
world view. In the summer of 2013, The House opened Kidspace, a multipurpose facility focused on ministering to children, grades kindergarten
through sixth grade. Members as well as the community, enjoy worship
services and programs and activities throughout the week designed to direct
the minds of the children, as well as adults, to the teachings of the Bible. In
addition, The House operates its own fitness center with fitness classes,
weight training, circuit training programs and two professional racquetball
courts. The Northern California regional campus of South Eastern University
was established in 2016 in partnership with the main campus in Lakeland,
Florida.
Over the seventy-seven year history of the church, two senior pastors
served for a combined 53 years; Pastor Joe Wright for 23 years and Pastor
Glen Berteau for 30 years. Pastor Micah Berteau became the Senior Pastor in
the summer of 2021. The church has a state of the art sanctuary facility with
a seating capacity of 1875, recently renovated with new carpet, seating,
lighting system as well as new sound system. The church is in the center of
the community and is well known for its years of ministry to the all people of
Modesto.
